After the death of Terence Clarke, alias Alexander Sinclair, who was believed to be the mastermind behind the "Mr Asia" drug syndicate, investigations into the scandal continued.
This film tells the story of some of the private efforts to uncover the still hidden syndicate and pull down the key villain.
Nat Goodman was arrested on marijuana charges in a "Mr Asia" sweep-up operation in 1981. On release from prison, Nat tries to find his former partner Anne-Marie but discovers that she is now working for the new syndicate as an Asian courier and involved in heroin addiction and prostitution. In an effort to free her, Nat and TV journalist Vicki Strassbourg enter the world of drugs, murder and intrigue.

"Produced and directed by Grahame McLean [...] Should I Be Good is remarkable in many ways. It took only 28 days to shoot and McLean used neither professional actors nor a script. Many of the faces that will be familiar to most New Zealanders, made their names in the music business, with people like Beaver and Hammond Gamble. The story is based on the actual events of the New Zealand based drugs scandal that exploded after the arrest and death of Alexander Sinclair (Mr. Asia)" - (Ruth MacKenzie, "Should I be Good? Should I be Evil...", Agenda, July 1985)
